Troop Categories
Total Battle has five main categories of troops, each with different strengths and purposes.
Guardsmen
Your basic troops. Guardsmen are:
- Available from the start
- Cheap to train and maintain
- Good all-around units
- Essential for early game
Guardsmen should be the backbone of your armies. Train lots of them!
Specialists
Used for PvP combat.
- Requires CP to improve - Specialists require Conquest Points to improve in research
- Expensive - More expensive than Guardsmen to train
Specialists require more resources but provide tactical advantages in PvP combat.
Engineers
Siege units:
- Siege equipment for attacking fortified cities
- Essential for breaking walls and defenses
- Slower but powerful
You'll need Engineers for serious attacks against well-defended targets like other players or citadels.
Monsters
Powerful mythical creatures:
- Much stronger than regular troops
- Unlock through research
- Expensive to train and maintain
- Game-changers in battle
Monsters aret extremely powerful once you unlock them but requires Dragon Coins to train which are hard to obtain.
Mercenaries
Troops purchased with real money in the shop, from certain events or from Mercenaries Trading Stations:
- Instant availability (no training time)
- Often more powerful than standard troops
- Cost Gold to revive
Mercenaries are optional - you can succeed without spending money on them.
Training Tips for Beginners
Early Game Focus
- Train lots of Guardsmen - they're cheap and effective
- Don't overtrain - if your food production is red do not train troops!
Revival and the Temple
When troops die in battle, a portion can be revived at the Temple:
- Revival costs gold or revival potions
- Higher Temple level = cheaper to revive
- During Novice Boost, revival costs are reduced by 90%
- When defending player attacks only 75% of the dead soldiers can be reviwed
- When loose soldiers in attacks against other players or against monsters 90% of your dead troops can be revived
Always revive your monster and mercenaries. DO NOT revive your silver troops, its a lot cheaper to use silver to train new troops.
