Heroes vs Captains - What's the Difference?
Heroes
Your Hero is a powerful characters that:
- Can lead your main army into battle against rare, heroics or some Epic monsters
- Has different bonuses depending on the chosen Hero
- Can be equipped with gear and artifacts
- Level up and gain new abilities
You can only have 1 active hero.
Captains
Captains has different bonuses for different purposes:
- Use Carter to Explore crypts
- Use Helen for troop training
- Use Aydaye for combat

Getting Started with Heroes
Your first hero is given to you during the tutorial. Focus on:
- Upgrading hero equipment when you find better gear
- Leveling up through combat experience
Starter Captains to Focus On
Some captains are given free or easily obtained early:
- Aydaye - A solid early captain for battles
- Carter - The "crypt king" - essential for serious crypting

Hero and Captain Priorities for Beginners
Week 1:
- Use your starter hero for all combat
- Send available captains to low-level crypts
- Equip any gear you can create
First Month:
- Work toward unlocking/recruiting Carter
- Upgrade your hero's equipment
- Explore higher level crypts as captains get stronger
- Create specialized equipment for your captains and hero
Don't Forget!
- Heroes and Captains should always be doing something
- Idle heroes/captains are wasted potential
- Equipment makes a huge difference - keep upgrading
